Hi,
I purchased a new pc with a nvidia gt640.Ever since i started playing games like just cause 2 ,nfs mw 2012, fifa14 on max settings. One of my friends told me that playing games on max settings decreases the life of the graphics card.Is it true??I have 2 extra cooling fans installed in my case. Does it make any difference to the life of the components??Also I play games for 3-4hrs every day.How long will the life of my graphic card be??

Thanks in Advance.

The work done by the card would be almost the same, as it would increase the frame rates as the detail dropped. It will work to the best of its ability inside power usage and temperature envelopes. I think your friend is mistaken. Letting cards get dirty heat sinks will kill them much faster, as will badly overclocking.

Your friend made you a bad joke, I assume :D .
Video cards are not imperishable, as nothing/no-one else are; all you need to do is to grant it doesn't heaten more than it should, and ignore your friend's babble :) .
