when you format, your formatting it to support your OS, so it will erase the data in order to be able to install the OS in the array.

Hi, this is seems to be incorrect.Bcoz all the Data including OS, placed in the RAID 5 setup .if I want to format the OS or reinstall the OS it will affect only to OS part not other data part. The main concept of the RAID setup is saved in RAID controller card(We are talking about hardware RAID), So we don't worry about the data.

I am expecting the Good answer for my doubt...

when you format the drive, it gets rid of everything, you then need to do a clean install. Do you mean wipe? as that will erase data and not the OS. When you format, you are getting rid of everything, not just data.
