So, I scrapped my broken laptop for parts and sold them. I currently have about 100$-125$ hiding in a metal box. I wanted to use this to upgrade my graphics card. Here are my current specs:
cpu: Pentium G2010
mb: Asrock H61M-vs
ram: kingston 4gb ddr3-1333
gpu: sparkle gt 630 1gb
psu: generic 600W (came with the case)

I was wondering, I read up on the forums here that a good rule of thumb to follow is that the price of the GPU should be twice the CPU price. Dunno if that's true though. But if it is, would an R7 260x be good for my current setup?

Thanks!

Yes, you should be good with r7 260x but if your PSU is bad get the GTX 750 ;)

Your build in totality seems old to me(3 years or so).
Consider investing in a new build.
Also, considering the rest of your parts, a CPU upgrade seems not worth it.

It's actually just one year old, haha.
