Hi all,

I was playing ACIV: Black Flag today and decided to lower the graphics to the bare minimum to see how well the game performed. I averaged 38fps, however turning up the settings to (almost) maximum lowered my frames to 28fps. Is this a 'normal' fps dip? I was honestly expecting my fps to be 60+ when I had the basic settings applied :/  (It didn't even drop when I chose 720p)

(Btw, I'm happy with the performance I'm getting I was just wondering if the drop should be lower :)  )

What are your CPU & GPU usage while playing? I found AC4 maxed out one core of my CPU and was then unable to use all of my GPU power.

(Using HWmonitor) It says that I am using 100% of my CPU + GPU.

(I have however heard that AC4 in particular is poorly optimised)

Download MSI Afterburner and check GPU usage, you will probably find it is around 50%. AC is poorly optimised.

"All in all, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is a mess on the PC. Although the game scales on four CPU cores, it does not take advantage of them and the performance differences between dualcores and quadcores are minimal. The game also suffers from low GPU usage when numerous graphical settings are activated. A single GTX680 is able to run the game above 35fps, provided you are not CPU limited."

In particular, the MINIMUM for the FX-8350 in the following link is 35FPS versus 50FPS for the i5-4670K:

Thanks for those links, were very interesting :)

I'm just gunna have to deal with it, I'm happy with 30fps :)  Besides, I'm now using RadeonPro and utilising the dynamic Vsync :D
