Hello, looking to buy a new computer for gaming live streaming and maybe a bit of video editing whether to go for the 4930k and two 60hz monitors or a 4770k and two 120hz monitors.

Is there a noticble difference bettwen 120hz and 60hz?

Note i am putting SLI 780ti's in this build so i could more than likely get 120 fps.

Solution
Playing at 120Hz vs 60Hz is like comparing day to night. Linus did a whole video series about this very thing on YouTube. 120Hz is far superior to 60Hz when playing FPS games, but not so much when playing RTS games. Check out those videos. Just type in "Linus 120Hz" and the videos should pop right up in the search results.

Also, I would recommend (if you can actually find them in stock) is to invest in G-Sync capable monitors. I own an Asus VG248QE G-Sync monitor and the thing is absolutely amazing. True Dynamic refresh rates, no screen tearing, and has Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB). I can't wait for the new ROG SWIFT PG278Q to be released later this year. It will be the first ever 27" WQHD (2560 x 1440) 120Hz G-Sync monitor...

That is a nice monitor, any news on price?

I'm also looking forward to that monitor.

By the way, what FPS limit do you put on your monitor? At blur busters, when they ran their testing, they found that the dreaded v-sync latency issue can kick in with G-sync when you get near your max refresh rate. They found with a 144hz monitor with a FPS limit or 120, the latency went away. They didn't test any other FPS limits, so I'm curious if you have found if you can get closer to 144hz before seeing latency issues.

From my personal experience, if you can get at least 100 stable FPS the difference between 60 and 120Hz is huuuuuuuge. The only downside is that when playing very GPU intensive games that won't run higher than 60FPS even with the newest graphics cards it will almost look laggy because you are used to the 120hz.

Is this true I have heard the opposite I heard that games running at 60fps on a 120hz monitor look alot smoother than a 60hz monitor I can not confirm this but it is what I have heard just a question I am not disagreeing or trying to cause an argument with anyone :)

My question is tho say a game running at 60fps will it look any better on a 120hz than a 60hz based on the screen's hz alone? I have heard that it does but I am unsure if that is true can someone with exprience with both let me know? :)

I have never noticed this issue, but then again there are only a handful of games in which average frame rates can be maintained above 144 FPS. The easy solution for when that occurs is to just disable G-Sync - problem solved!

Testing at blurbusters.com show that somewhere around 140 FPS and up, that you end up with the latency that V-sync gives, they found that limiting it to 120 fixed it, but they did not test anything between. I'm guessing somewhere between 130 and 140 should be the sweet spot. Of course, at those FPS, you may not notice the latency so easily and as you said, it is rare that you can maintain those FPS anyways.
