Pc was fine till now. The build is quite old, with gigabyte 880gm usb3 mb, 8gb ram and amd x4 955be processor.
This started yesterday night. It didn't beep on first attempt. I had to hold the power button to turn it off and restart. It worked.
2nd time I had to wait even more.
Now it seems pc wont boot, been waiting since 30 mins.
So, it's kinda random for it starting. Holding the power button to turn off the led and fans doesn't always work. I have to hard power off.
I detached RAM, fans, HDD etc, still the same problem, no beep and just the led lights. Please help asap, I urgently need to turn it on.
Thanks.
Ps: afaik, there was an led that would light up on the mobo, and now I can't find any when it's not turning on.
And everytime it booted with problems, I had to set bios to default after it asked me something.

Solution
Well it's NOT WORKING. The 12V voltages are too high. Replace the PSU with a good brand.

If you list your build we might be able to provide some advice on what psu to get.

I didn't overclock anything. Could a dying psu act like that?
The psu is of 550w and it's a local brand, not the cheapest, but decently cheap. Also I edited my post...the bios asked me about loading settings to default or previous good.
I did previous good and then tried default too.
So all these symptoms still say it's psu?
The heat in my city has been high lately. I'm in Mumbai, India.
Edit: another observation. The power button on cpu responds only if pressed immediately after boot, and reboot button doesn't seem to work.

maybe the processor itself got burnt up.. because even I got the same build (965) and I accidentally bent one pin of the CPU when cleaning and I faced similar issue of the PC not booting up.. since you say that its booting into bios.. the chances of your CPU fried is pretty much there.. also RAM.. try using one ram stick at a time to isolate the issue.. if its RAM, just RMA it or buy a new one..

The heat here is crazy I agree with that.. that's why I had to get a custom aftermarket cooler.. btw i'm from hyd, ap..

okay, I'll wait for others.
Btw, I see Turbo 3D card or whatever it is, maybe my ati radeon4250, it's loose, I'm able to pull it a bit up cause of spring type screws. Does not look detachable but can that be the reason? If I will to verify if it's the reason, how can I?

We really need to know the make and model of the psu to be able to judge whether its any good.

Can you borrow another psu and try it?

It's: Power Focus-550W.

And it's sure that my PC starts after I turn it on, let the LED & fans be on for a good time and then restart.

Also after it started after waiting for more than an hour, I was testing and, 80% of Windows' restart commands led me to CMOS checksum error page where I used to load defaults.
And I can't get a psu for testing at this moment.

Power Focus - another not known brand. I get a lot of problems reported with PCs with cheap non certified power supplies. If you want to give your pc the best chance of a healthy life, please get a really good power supply. Preferably something mad by Seasonic - either under their own brand or XFX or some of Corsair and Antec eg Antec HCG 520M

Just to check, if and when the pc starts can you check the voltages from the power supply using HWInfo (download it for free). I need measurements of the 12v, 5v and 3.3v lines showing for each their min and max values.

This session was when I had to keep the machine powered on for a while and then reboot so it'd start. Though, this was taken hours after the boot.

And 2nd, I just restarted and took the screen:

Is this all that you require? Or something more?

Alright, so PSU it is?

Mobo: Gigabyte 880GM USB3
RAM: 2 * 4 GB DDR3 by Strontium - 1333Mhz
Proc: AMD x4 955BE 3.2 GHz
HDD - WD Blue WD10EZEX 1 TB
and a normal DVD r/w by LG.

Is that all? I do plan to add an external graphic card in near future, but that won't be a heavy one, I need decent NFS games on mid-high settings, that is it.
Thanks.

You will not get anything of quality at such a low price mate.. coolermaster is so-so.. suggest you have a budget of atleast 5000 INR... Then you will get a decent PSU. PSU is something that is very important. it supplies power to your whole system!! never neglect that bit as it has the potential to fry/destroy your whole pc (or burn your house in flames) if it is not of a good quality. Like I said before, do not apply much stress on your system.

Take that but do not expect wonders or quality. and try not to use heavy applications like Photoshop/games etc...
