Everytime I plug my external HD, it keeps on asking to format it.

So, I had this old laptop which seem to break it's motherboard. So I took out the internal HD of it and took it to a repair shop and placed a case on it so it can be used as an External HD. But sadly, everytime I unplug it and plug it back to the computer, it asks for me to format it. Someone please help? Thanks in advance :D

Oh, erm it stopped turning on so I took it to the shop I bought it from and the employees said that the motherboard had stopped working. So I took the HDD out and the techs placed a cover in it. After that, I took the HDD home and plugged it into the PC and I was able to retrieved all the data from the old laptop. However, now days, I can plug it in 3 or 4 times without asking for me to format it, but after that , the PC asks for me to format it.
