Is my graphics card bad

Hi all, I recently posted a thread concerning my monitor as I thought it was going bad, but now I'm not too sure it is the monitor. The monitor I have is the Hanns.G HH251DPB. Basically what happens is the monitor will go black and the green power LED will flicker on and off. When this happens I have to wait before the monitor will come back on but sometimes it never does and the only way to fix it is to unplug the DVI cable from my graphics card and then plug it back in again. I have tried the monitor on another computer using both DVI and VGA and have had no problems, and I am planning to try my normal computer using the on board graphics to see if it is the graphics card that is faulty. Any ideas would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

You said that you were able to test the monitor on another computer. Do you have a way to pull the GPU to test that in another computer? Do you still have warranty on this one? You could start with the simple stuff (Assuming that you have not done it) but update drivers, blow out the dust and test on another machine.

Could be a GPU problem. I would download GPU-Z or PCwizard. Both are free and will tell you the temp of the GPU. Let us know what the temps are.

Also, what are you doing when this happens? Does it happen when PC is idle? If you let the PC sit overnight and come back is the monitor off? What are the specs of your PC?

Specs are:
CPU- i5 3570K
16gb Corsair Vengeance 1600
MSI Power Edition GTX 670
Mobo MSI z77A-G45
PSU Corsair Cx600

I have my pc running on the onboard graphics right now and no problems as of yet. The problem occurs no matter what I'm doing whether it is on the desktop or in game. I'll let you know temperatures after I've tested the onboard graphics but as I say there doesn't seem to be a problem yet.

GPU temperatures on desktop are 26 degrees. All drivers are updated and I've just blown out dust. I'll see if I can put the gpu in the other computer. There didn't seem to be a problem using onboard graphics either. The gpu still has warranty as well. I'll get back to you about using it in the other computer.

I can't put the gpu in the other computer as it is a much older machine and the gpu won't even fit. However since I reconnected the gpu to my computer there hasn't been any problems as of yet. I'll keep an eye on it.

Ok since reconnecting the gpu the computer has been in use for a few hours and no problems so that might have fixed it, for how long I'm not sure but for now it seems to be fine. Thanks for the quick support :)

Ok, still having problems, now when the monitor turns off, even unplugging the cable out and back in doesn't work. The only way I've managed to get the monitor back on is with a full reset. Now obviously this is a big problem when gaming, and I can't figure out whether it is the graphics card or the monitor. The fact that when it goes off, it's not the screen that goes black, but the whole monitor actually seems to turn off, but with the power led still on. This makes me feel it is the monitor but I'm not sure. Just as a precaution I turned sleep mode and monitor auto off both off, but still isn't helping. If it was the graphics card wouldn't it play that sound when you disconnect something? When I unplug the cable when the monitor is off it plays that sound, so it still registers that the graphics card is still running. I'm completely stumped with this one, and I don't want to get a new monitor just to find the same problem happening.

Ok, just hooked up my tv and had both displays on at the same time. When the problem occurred only my monitor went off and my tv stayed on, so I'm pretty sure it's the monitor. Now to find a good monitor for gaming to replace it.
