I see that you can obtain a free recovery disc download from Toshiba but how am I suppose to do that from a laptop that does not boot up? I downloaded it on my HP desktop but canceled it because it looked like it was going to run the recovery on my HP. I was trying to burn the disc for someone else with a laptop that has a no bootable media error and it won't restart. Any suggestions or input other than ordering the $40 usb that may or may not work? Thanks.

No the driver software won't be the same and you won't be able to activate that copy of Windows on another PC. You can only have one active installation of Windows per license.
