I'm going to be replacing the stock cooler of my gigabyte GTX 770 4GB with the kraken g10, and I seen that a guy on OCN just took the header off of the "4" pin fan connector on his same card and plugged the krakens 3-pin fan connector on it. I want to do the same to reduce cabling but i also don't want to fry my card.

My card is the Gigabyte GTX 770OC 4GB rev.2

Thanks for any input.

Are you sure this will cool all the components that should be cooled? that was the draw back to cheap GPU coolers.

Well I've researched a little on it and also purchased a bunch of mini copper heatsinks with 3m tape on the flat side:

Ordered 16 for the VRAM (8 on the top of the card, 8 on the bottom) now i'm going to be ordering more for the vrms that will be directly under the fan that comes on the kraken g10. I have 7 fans in my case along with 2 more on my CLC for my CPU(antec kuhler 920) and also going to have another fan with the CLC for my GPU.

If you have the budget, and since you have a fx-8120 (which runs hot hot hot), you might want to consider liquid cooling for the CPU and GPU. That'll cost a lot though but something to consider.

Those are the future plans when i have more time on my hands(also more money to throw around ;-) ) but this is why im going with both Closed loop systems for both my CPU and GPU, so i can set it and forget it with 0 maintenance.

And your not answering my question do you think its safe to use the 3 pin fan connector on the GPU mini 4 pin fan connector on the GPU? Guy is doing it on his card and says it runs fine.
