gtx 780 with directx 10?

so I just got a GeForce gtx 780. put it in and tried assetto corsa. the game loads, the ui is there, but when I go to start I get the message that my graphics card is not compatible with the game, something about directx version.
I checked my comp. says it is dx 10, is this even possible? I thought all 780 cards were dx 11?

Update your DirectX it is free. You did not say which windows you are on but XP no Vista has to get updated to SP3!

the GPU version is shown as dx10.
the Microsoft version on the CPU is dx11

pretty new to all this so I hope i'm making sense

All GTX 780's support DirectX 11 and will support DirectX 12 when it comes out too. Your game probably just haven't installed the DirectX version for the game properly or something (even if you have DirectX installed your games still need to install specific files for that game.

You should in Steam right-click your game, click on "propeties", "local files" and click "valiate game data", it will check if your game is missing any files, might be it will update DirectX.

The specs for the card means only that it's compatible with DirectX 11

That doesn't necessarily mean you've got DirectX 11 installed. It's up to you to make sure you have it.

this is the exact wording of the error message;

assetto corsa error
your graphics card is not compatible with this software,minimum requirement is a directx 10.1 graphics card.

it is either the game problem or something specific to nvidia. try looking on steam forums if there were similar case to yours

why does pc wizard tell me the card supports dx 10.1 only?

techPowerUp GPU-z says dx support is 11.0?

I didn't think i'd have to uninstall the amd drivers, so no, I didn't.
now i'm not sure I want to, in case I cant get the 780 running.

Driver conflict may be your issue! Rule of thumb is to uninstall all drivers especially going between AMD and Nvidia cards!

Right click the start button and click "Run" (or whatever it is in win 8.1)

type "dxdiag" and run it

What does the current version say at the bottom? If it doesn't say 11, then update directx

directx 11 is in windows, as it should.

my problem is the gtx780 is dx 10 support? and I cant seem to change it. uninstalled amd drivers, uninstalled and re-installed nvidea drivers. triple checked for dx 11 in windows. but the game and pc wizard seem to think the card supports dx 10.

gonna return the card. whoever heard of a 780 without dx 11?

Does it only do it in that one game, or does it have a problem with every game? Could be an issue with that game and not your gpu.

this card does not support dx 11. pc wizard reads it as dx 10. so is it even really a 780? pc wizard says it is. so does GPU-z.

however GPU-z also tells me it supports dx11. AAAAAGH!
