I am currently gaming at 5760x1080 with an EVGA 780 SC. I want to get better PPI so the next level up is to upgrade my displays to 2560x1440. If I do this, is it better to add a second 780 or should I wait for the 8xx series and get two 880s when those come out towards the end of the year? In case you need it, my CPU is an i5-4670K @ 4.5, 16gb of RAM, and a 256gb SSD.

well if you can spend that much on 3 displays, a bit more for another 780 is a good investment, and you will need it for that resolution, next graphics are still far away and will not bring that much improvements since they will probably be still on 28nm .
Make sure to get screens with very small bezels and good input response, color, etc because the screens are the thing that will last you more on your pc, so pick your screens with care.

It depends what settings you're going to play at, on 780SLI you would probably achieve slightly better graphics setings compared to your current setup.

Though if you want a very wide screen size, and a 1440p resolution. you should maybe consider this monitor instead of three medicore 1440p monitors?:

http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-34UM95

It's running 21:9 ratio on a 3440x1440 resolution. And it's a IPS monitor and Linus from LinusTechTips (a tech youtube reviewer which is pretty known) didn't even want to go 4K after he recently tested this. Will not have any bezels or spaces between each screen either.

Just saying that it would be an awesome option, which is different from others and works very well in games. Here's the review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnrxNfxRK_4&list=UUXuqS...

you need cards with more VRAM on them!

I have 770 4gb sli setup, playing arkham origins last night on ultra I was using 3.2gb of VRAM... i cant imagine with three 1440p monitors.

msi afterburner has a monitor for this if you want to look at how much you're using.

i'd say wait, rumor has it the 880 will probly launch with 4gb vram.
you'll need two of those if you want to play on high quality 60fps at usch a crazy resolution

more vram would be better for sure but if 780ti sli with also 3Gb can play at 4K without stuttering, this ist much diference, just a bit more, in two years tho you would have to update your graphics .
you could also get 2 gtx 780 6Gb that are about to came out for a bit more and sell your 780
msi afterburner shows the sum of the vram if im not mistaken, you were actualy using 1.6Gb per card if its the case
