I'm using Asus N76VZ
So it came with Window 8 pre-installed etc.
However, after one more week, I bought a SSD and I use the recovery partition to recover the os to my 128GB SSD.
So, the 1TB hard disk become my secondary drive. (But I leave the 20GB partition intact in the secondary drive)
After that, I installed Window 8.1 Pro with a license key.

So currently, my OS is in my SSD.

however, i want to reformat my laptop now back to window 8. I dont want the pro any more. The tricky part is my recovery partition is at my secondary drive. So when I try to refresh or reset my system, it will tell me to insert recovery media.

I am able to get the install.wim file from the recovery partition on my secondary drive by using diskpart and assigning a letter to the recovery partition.

So, is there anyway for me to reformat my whole system? Partly is to reset my systems from full of unwanted programs, and also want to fall back to windows 8 to save some space from my 128GB SSD.

Thanks in advanced :)

You should have left the original hard drive intact with Windows 8.0 installed on it, at least until after you had tried 8.1 for a week or two. Although why you want to ditch 8.1 in favour of 8.0 is beyond me. Microsoft released 8.1 after a massive outcry from users that the original release was rubbish, mainly no start menu.

Contact ASUS and ask them for a set of recovery discs if you really want to revert to Windows 8.0. Not the only option perhaps but the easiest one in my opinion.
