All right, so I just ordered the Dell S2340L 23" full HD, but it has no DVI cable, only HDMI&VGA
(I will use HDMI). My graphics card: AMD R9 270 MSI GAMING OC, is there any difference at all in quality between DVI or HDMI, did I make a mistake ordering the Dell?

HDMI and DVI are carry the same signal with a different connection (and probably max bandwidth). I used a HDMI to HDMI and a DVI to HDMI cable for a long time on my old monitor - both work fine.

HDMI is carrying the same digital video signal as the DVI under the same protocol (the set of rules under which the signal is created and transferred), but the HDMI has the sound too (also digital). There's no difference between the quality beacuse of the same reason as in the previous sentence.
You definitely did no do any mistake with DELL monitor. I had a D1025 CRT with a SONY Trinitron tube previously, now I have 1704FPT grandpa, which still gives a perfect picture. My next will be DELL also.
