We currently have a windows domain (WIndows Small Business Server 2003). We are retiring the server and replacing with a Windows 2008 Std Edition (Stand Alone server) we won't be using a Domain going forward.

we have 7 workstations that currently login to the Domain how can I remove them from the domain so that they login locally but still keep their current profiles (desktop, my documents, favorites.

Thanks

As long as you have local Admin passwords for these machines, you can just make shortcuts to those common areas from the new user desktop. You might need to make the new user an Admin on this PC also.

Also, even though you are taking the DC down, the users can still use cached logins to get to their desktops under the old domain. As soon as you login as a different user though, you won't be able to get that desktop back.
