Ey people i recently bought the new gpu and i've been juggling around if wether my hardware system is old to support it or if my software is full of viruses i haven't done a clean format yet as i'm not sure if that's the problem, I start thinking that it's my software that is the problem cause everytime i have firefox open with few tabs my fps in games is lower than normal, I have installed some new drivers for the card but not sure if they are installed correctly whatsoever, so here we go.

cpu: Intel core i7 3 ghz
mobo: asus sabertooth i55
ram: 8gb
gpu: gtx 770

Solution

A very simple way is to run task manager next to your games. Check the total CPU usage. At the same time use GPU-Z to check the load on your GPU. If your CPU's load is always around 99% and the GPU load while gaming is far under that, you are experiencing bottleneck.

Your i7 is quite old. 1st gen if I'm correct? Atm we have the 4th gen already =). Bottleneck might be the issue as your CPU (non OC'ed) will be around the performance of an FX 6300. The 6300 will already bottleneck the 770 in some particular games (not all). I would try to OC your i7 (make sure you have an aftermarket cooler). If that isn't possible, upgrade the CPU+MB in one go. There is a new intel series...

"lower than normal" = ?
You might be CPU bottlenecked. If the FPS stays the same no matter what settings your CPU is bottlenecking =).
You can try this to clean up your PC a bit:
Windows logo + r --> temp --> Delete all files will ctrl+a --> shift+delete
Windows logo + r --> %temp% --> Same as above
Windows logo + r --> prefetch --> Same as above

Those are all files you don't need and in which unwanted things can hide.

Also: Task manager --> Startup programms (if you have windows 7 try windows logo + r --> Msconfig --> startup) --> uncheck the programms you are sure of you don't need / you don't know. There are quite some viruses being activated every time you start your PC.

your tips were useful to clean up abit my pc im sure its full of viruses and im almost convinced that is the reason my gpu is not working properly, you said my cpu might be bottlenecking it but my cpu is like clean and i7. isn't i7 suppose to work ok for the todays standards? also my fps in game is not stable no as i said when i run for example chrome on the backroun on like 8 tabs my fps drops, but it wasn't always like that. i'm not sure if that can be cause from spywares/malwares in the internet.
