My situation is this: The actual router is across the house. I have been using wireless pci card but discovered the limits of "wireless" when I upgraded our internet speed from 25 mbps to 50 mbps. My wireless didn't get any better at 11- 15 mbps. I was researching wireless pci cards and discovered they are limited in such areas and that powerline adapters is the next best thing to having an actual wired connection. I have tried usb wireless and they don't have the range or the capability to handle the wireless traffic I create. So I started researching powerline adapters from a thread I read on here and there are loads of them. Some are really expensive while others are cheap. I am thinking of a 500mbps powerline adapter for eventually adding in other devices like a game console or two. My budget is about $50, though that is cutting into my new PC build a little. So if I can get the same quality at a cheaper price then I will.
Any suggestions?

Bruce

hard Wire is the best for your setup.. however you can try this one.. 450mbps..

Must provide some good data bandwidth..

However, remember that your router must also support the high speed data transfers.. it will be good if you can point out the model of your router and also the speed of your PC (which is pretty not relevant but still..) and the HDD also matters..

I have the best and latest router comcast offers, I believe it is a dual band router. It is an Arris T862G. My pc is going to be upgraded (new pc build). It's my download speeds that I need to improve.

That Rosewill pci card looks good, but if I get a "powerline" adapter I will not need a wireless card at all. A powerline adapter connects to the router via a cat5 cable then plugs into the wall and uses the power lines of the house to transmit the signal to another powerline adapter plugged into another outlet (near the PC at the other end of the house) and a cat5 cable runs from that to the PC. Not as good as being wired, but like 10 times better than wireless.

EDIT: I need to order the powerline adapter in less than 14 hrs......to get it by monday.

Funny it doesnt mention of any speed or bandwidth.. If you are sure about a power line adapter, and it is better than a wireless, go ahead mate.. :)
