I just want a safe overclock to 4.1ghz. My motherboard is the asus m5a97 r2.0. I want to overclock, but never have. I've read up that you just turn off turbo, set the multiplier to 20.5, and leave voltages on auto. After that, run Prime95 on blend for hours. Is there anything else i should enable to disable in the bios?

Be aware that the ASUS M5A97 R2.0 is an excellent overclocker . Probably the best of the motherboards that use the 970 series chipset . It has 4+ 2 power phases which is considered by some to be weaker than ideal for overclocking, but its under a badass heatsink and digital control of voltage output so will run all day long with a FX6300 at 4.8 GHz and not even get hot

There is a cut down budget board called the M5A97 LE . And that one you do not want

That was the one I was thinking of ><
