Hi there. I have two hard drives. My primary is an SSD and my secondary is a standard HDD. For some reason when I unplug my HDD, it's impossible to load my SSD. However, my boot files are on my SSD. How do I make my SSD independent from the HDD so that it will not need it in order to boot? I want to use my secondary HDD for my second computer.

Thanks!

Yes I had an existing windows boot on the HDD. However, when I fresh installed Windows on the SSD, I did not have the HDD plugged in. Also, I tried going to msconfig and deleting the Windows boot from the HDD, but I still can't be able to remove the remaining files in the HDD.

You could use the repair function from windows installation media to fix the boot manager on your SSD or check out https://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/?ModPagespeed=noscript. Also check if your SSD is connected to the first SATA port on your motherboard. Disk id numbers can change when you remove drives from system (if the removed drive was in SATA0/1 port and the other drive in SATA2 port for example).
