Can I upgrade to windows 8 without loosing my games/drivers.

Hi! I built a budget pc nearly 2 months ago with a 7770, ga78lmt-usb3,fx4300,cx430, 2tb seagate green, rosewill ranger m, and 8gb ddr3. My aunt gave me windows 8 as a gift, but I have so many games that I don't want to upgrade. Games like bf3/4, skyrim, just cause, bioshock, batman, I don't want to loose. Also I have things like wireless xbox receivers and other stuff it would hurt to loose and have to re download and install. If I recovered from windows.old, where would I put the files? Please help!

if you are happy with win 7, dont upgrade. many people hate win 8, personally i love it. yes it has/had some quirks, overall i like

if its that hard for you to get your games back, i wouldnt go through the headache. sell it and buy more games lol

technically you "can" just do the upgrade and transfer you r files, drivers, games etc, but in my experience it doesnt work well at all. i tried that when i upgraded to windows 8 and it wouldnt even let me for some reason. you are better off to just do a clean install. steam games dont even like to be moved from one hard drive to another, nevermind a new os.

the nice part about win 8 is that most of the drivers for your machine will already be included in the install, even your x box reciever drivers.

Should I upgrade at all? I have a really sh***y at&t uverse internet and when downloading games I am lucky to get 300kb p/s. I usually just bring my laptop to school and download all my games from steam there, and transfer them via a 40gb external usb hdd. Lol.
