SSD problems with BIOS (cannot see it as a boot option)

I have a ASUS x202e laptop with a single drive and I replaced it with a Samsung 840 EVO 250 SSD. I used the Samsung migration software and the drive started freezing. I read that sometimes that can happen so I did a clean install of windows 8 on the new drive.

I couldn't see it as a boot option in BIOS. This was a few months ago and I found a forum that mentioned how I have to tweak the settings to get it to show up. That worked and I was happy.

I started having wireless driver issues where my driver would disappear and I had not connections available. I read in a forum that someone solved the same problem by setting their BIOS to default settings. Well I did that, and my laptop now only boots into BIOS. And there is no option in the boot order section (nothing shows up at all). If I plug in a USB drive I can see that as a boot option but no SSD.

However, if I go to SATA mode selection I see that in serial ATA port 0 my SSD is there.

I can't find the forum that told me what settings to change and I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I even tried messing around and changing a few settings like disabling fast boot or trying to enable CSM options. But it still just boots directly to BIOS.

Thanks.

In your bios, under the boot menu, is there a a tab or link for Hard Drive BBS Priorities? If there is, in it change the first drive to your SSD, if it is in the drop down list. Then go back to the boot menu and the drive should show up under boot priorities. I don't know if your bios has this option, but mine does and I had a similar problem right after installing windows.

Actually you were right on the first comment, what happened was I had the CSM options disabled and just changing the SATA mode didn't do it, but once I turned back on the CSM options and then changed it to AHCI it worked! Thanks!
