Recently my GPU has been getting near the threshold in terms of temperature and I dont know why. I was wondering if I should upgrade my fans or if there is something else I can do to keep it cool. I have a CG5290 Asus Desktop and I have no idea what type of fans I have or what kind of upgrades I can fit in my tower. Any tips would be appreciated.

adding another fan to your case isnt going to help your card all that much, it would improve it if your card was running at decent temps at least but that shouldn't be where your focusing attention. what i would suggest would be to re-thermal paste your card as step one and then step two use this program

http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm

to up your graphics cards fan speed.

this is a link on how to re thermal paste your card or at least a card similar to the one you have

Three things can immediately be done to improve cable management without much cost! First I would clean out the card even if it doesn't seem dusty on the fan blades could be full of dust on the intake or out take of the card. Second thing i would do is do your best to improve your cable management, fewer cables = fewer things to inhibit air flow. Last thing i would do would buy some thermal past take the fans off the card and place pea sized amounts of thermal paste on the chips where the old thermal paste was. You can buy some pretty cheap antec diamond thermal paste from your local staples

Oh one thing i forgot if all of those fail try running a program like msi afterburner and turning your fan speeds up to like 75 percent all the time. thats pretty drastic though and can be bad on the fan bearings on the card

I know that I have one fan that is 120mm, but I dont know if I can fit another in this particular case. If anyone knows the dimensions for this model it would be much appreciated.
