Hey guys, i recently built a gaming computer, it runs everything really well. I got my video card from my friend, and I have been wanting to upgrade my videocard. I have a 7770 and it runs games great, but I want to save up and hopefully by summer time I can buy a 7870. Only thing is i know video cards run out of date fast and was wondering if its not worth getting the 7870 and instead saving up more until I have enough for an r9 card. Just curious on if I should buy a 7870 or not, thanks.

It would be best to wait for a a better card. Better to save and get a better one now than to have to replace it sooner in the future.

First off how much are you looking to spend?
Second, what is your monitor resolution?
Third, what are your complete system specs? Exact model PSU being very important.

I can probably spend around a little over 200$ if i wait till summer and more $ if I wait till the end of the year.
Monitor is 1366 x 768 ( i use a tv)
Sys specs:
amd radeon 7770
and fx 6300
8 gb ram
power supply: corsair cx 600 600w

At that resolution you would not gain much by getting a better card.

I would suggest you save up for a better monitor and newer cards over time.

What I'd do is get the 7870. The later I'd get another and crossfire them. That'd be about the same gpu power as a r9 280x.

The I'd sit on that for a while and see what's new.

But as you go up in gpu power you need to match it with your psu and even with your cpu

So if I were to keep this monitor I should just stick to this card?

For now yes, you can max ANY game with that card at your resolution.

LCD monitors are designed to run at specific resolutions, changing it will cause issues.
