so I recently just put together my computer with a copy of windows 8.1 and I keep getting notifications about not having my chipset drivers. I've downloaded everything (i think) from the website but can't figure this out.

This is my first ever build and I'm not too experienced with chipsets. Do I need to download any drivers for this?
MSI z87m Gaming

I also have i5 4670k if that helps

when you buy the mobo, it has included cd drivers for mobo. use it and also if youre not sure about which drivers you are missing go check in device manager

But apparently there's nothing that tells me what's already installed? The chipset installer says it installed fine but windows notification center says I don't have chipset drivers

Yes, on that page you linked, scroll down below the picture of the motherboard and click on "download", and then click on "driver" below that. You're looking for the "intel chipset driver" right at the bottom of the page. That's the one you want

Have you installed all of the drivers from the download tab on the link that you provided? I don't know if I have ever seen that windows notification. :??:

The chipset drivers are at the bottom of the page.

I don't have a cd drive in my build yet. Nor have I gotten an external yet. I have installed the drivers from that particular page....but the way it installs is....odd. how do I know if they installed properly

oh i see there is a easy method. install live update 5 in utility section because that software will update and install drivers that you are missing :)

Live update is out of the question. I've tried downloading just the files including small ones. Takes WAAAAAYYY too long to download. I don't trust that program to install a single thing if it takes 45+ minutes to download a 20mb file on my fios internet

Not to mention countless Google searches turn up borked boards and countless headaches via live update. If anything I'd use it to just Dl files which I have...but idk...it seemed way too easy to install that chipset driver. Isn't there a way to check?

Intel's hardware scanner doesn't even list my chipset name it lists a version number but no name

No other answers? I understand this is a rather uncommon question, but seeing the reputation of Tom's has you'd think there'd be more discerning people about.

sorry for not answering your question because i went to bed. you can check your drivers easily by using device manager in window and if there is icon like this ! or ? on your devices. that means you need to install driver for it.
