So I am writing this issue from my phone as the issue with my computer at the moment is unbearable.

I'd say a couple of months ago my computer would start having some strange graphical bugs. while I was playing counter strike global offensive, I would experience some screen tears and my computer screen would change to full screen solid colors and the switch back. for example I would be playing cs:go then I would get some screen tears and then my screen would change from the gameplay to a green/blue/black screen. after a few seconds it would change back but it was very odd.

This could be a problem with counter strike as it only happens when I am playing the game but now I am starting to think not.

2 Weeks ago I'd say I got an error saying the graphics card failed to respond or something like that. Now the screen changes to the blue/green/black screens are stuck like that and crash my computer making me have to restart. just now this happened and I restarted my PC and it is completely fucked at the moment. when I SINGLE click on a folder on my desktop it opens the folder. when I open up google chrome and let's say type a 'w' into the address bar, it will automatically autofill the first website I have been on starting with 'w' so in this case it immediately opens up Wikipedia. when I type something into google the letters are oddly spaced as if the letters each have a space between them. and lastly when I click on the address bar to type in a new search/website it refreshes the page.

I don't know why this is happening and I really need help. any replies at all would be very much appreciated

my rig:
AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
Intel i7 3820 @ 3.8 ghz
MSI X79A-GD45 Plus
16GB Ram
2TB Harddrive
Windows 7

(note: I also use raidcall a lot, maybe this program has something to do with it :/)

Solution
It may be the card, but we still need to eliminate any driver problems you may have. Because of the problems you were experiencing in your browser, I assumed it was just a bug that needed to be cleaned out. It sounds like I was wrong, but that helps you get closer to the problem. Have you updated to the latest drivers? I'll explain where to find the latest drivers:
1. Go to ASUS Support Downloads
2. Select Model Manually
3. Find your specific model of HD 7850, and select your Operating System
4. The page will give you a list of available downloads, choose the VGA tab, and download the latest Display Driver
5. If you are using any of the ASUS GPU utilities, such as ASUS GPU Tweak, download the latest version of them as well
6...

I was wondering if it had something to do with an application that was running in the background. It is a very easy place to start, and it could give you some troubleshooting information.

If your certain that it is in no way software related, have you tried a second graphics card to troubleshoot with?

It could be a software issue. If so how can I check to see if any application is causing the problem?
I don't have another GPU so I cannot test if there is a problem with the one I am currently using.

First try booting into Safe mode by hitting F8 while starting your computer before windows loads. This will give you a short list of boot options. Select Safe Mode with Networking. When logged into Safe Mode, Windows will only start critical applications. Once Windows is running, you should update and run whatever antivirus program that you are using. -I recommend, Malware Bytes, AVG, SpyBot S&D.- But, whatever you are already familiar with should be fin. This may find and remove malware or viruses that can-not be removed during a normal boot to Windows.
In addition, while in safe mode, do some test to see if the issues that you are experiencing are still present while in Safe Mode, such as the problems that were present while web browsing, ect.
I will try and answer any questions that you may have. Let me know what you come up with.

So I did exactly what you said to do and it is still doing it so what I have to assume now I guess is that it is a problem with my GPU. I just got the message "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" so I guess it is a GPU problem

In addition, are you using any graphics card software, such as Catalyst Control Center, MSI Afterburner, ASUS GPU Tweak, ect.?
I have a system with an HIS HD 7850 in it, and the bundled software is Catalyst Control Center. So, I installed it to control my clock speeds and displays. Then I installed MSI Afterburner to run an On Screen Display to keep track of my temps while gaming. What I am getting at is, I found that the two programs were conflicting and I had to uninstall one of them.
In any case, you need to make sure that you have the correct drivers installed and running properly for your card.

Let me know what you come up with.

Alright I installed the new drivers via Asus Support Downloads and haven't had any problems since. I will keep you up to date if anything does occur but I believe the problem has been solved. Thanks for all your help :)

by at it again, do you mean that your are getting solid color screens and crashing again? how long did it go without any problems? did you do anything different before it started having problems again?

Yes it is getting the colored screens and crashing. Something important to add that I forgot to mention is that when the screen bugs out, there are little columns that go (if the screen was green let's say) green, dark green, green, dark green, green etc., so it's like there are small small lines in between. Also, the when the screen bugs out, it always changes to the color that is currently being displayed so for instance my desktop is mainly orange so it changes to orange. I have dual monitors too and it happens on both. I have done nothing different that I can think of. It's been happening pretty frequently now though...

Sorry for not getting back, I have been really busy. It sounds like your video card may be the issue. Have you tried removing your graphic card and reinstalling it. Problems such as this could be caused by an improperly seated card.
