Just buidl new pc. i5-4670, 2x4mb, asus h81m-plus, kingston ssd 120mb.
Loaded new windoes 8, but when computer tries to restart it sticks on the ASUS bios splash screen. If I then manually power off and restart everything is fine and windows loads up. Can you help me solve this? Is it a bios setting I'm missing or a hardware issue (eg power button connectors incorrect) or ????? Can't be bothered with a pc which can't automatically restart itself!

Check what BIOS version you have. You can download the latest BIOS for your MB from http://www.asus.com/supportonly/h81mplus/HelpDesk_Download, it has a installer which you can run directly from windows. There seem to have been a few updates which add support for lates Intel processors amongst other things. You could also enter bios (should be F1 key during bootup) and reset bios to default settings. If the computer starts when pressing the power button it should be connected properly.
