Is GPU modding worth it?

I know this is not really related to GPU's, but is it worth it to custom paint your pc components? I believe this way the warranty is void... What I want to do is customise a reference gtx 770 so that is matches my system's color scheme (black+orange/yellow). This means painting the aluminum heatsink and scraping off the green paint on the LED's with sandpaper. Has anyone tried this or regretted modding his/her hardware?

sand paper can scratch unless it is really fine grade , painting plastic can be tricky , unless the titan cover is metal , without the correct undercoat your paint can crack or distort and ruin what you are trying to achieve a good primer or undercoat will help bond your surface coat , be it metal primer( Undercoat ) or Plastic Primer ( Undercoat ), to mask means to tape any part you do not wish to spray to avoid overspray

If it voids your warranty, the question is, how much are you going to look at it? all the time? or do you take it to conventions as a show build? if neither, it isn't worth it. as you will most likely look at your monitor.

Hi John Alexandropoulos ,
if you are not concerned about warranty then go for it ,
my question is if the card is mounted face down as is the norm how well will you see your mod ?
unless you are planning to uses a riser ribbon and mount the card side on to face the case window ?

It's going to be a titan-cooler reference card, so I will make it black and yellow. I will scrape off the green paint on the led to make it glow white, too. So, it will be visible.

Won't the light still look green that way? I've seen someone doing this with sandpaper (I think it was an oc3d.com forum) and the results were perfect. Also, what is a plastic primer and a mask? I am not a native english speaker and google translate can't explain this very well... :D)
