Hi currently have a 270x and play battlefield and want it for more up coming titles but I believe it might need a hand if I wish to proceed playing on ultra or maximum settings. I have decided on purchasing a r9 270 but wish to overclock it to match my 270x. Would this be possible because I have heard a 270x crossfire can beat a 290x

Thanks

I have no Idea , Please don't mind but I do not recommend an AMD Card in the future If you buy any...
There are reasons for it.

A 270x should play BF4 on Ultra with no AA and get 60fps. If you want AA then I'd suggest upgrading. However, I think you'd be better off just selling the 270x and getting a 280x. A 280x maxes out BF4 on 1080p.

^^^The above comment by FaqirKhan is stupid. He/she does not tell us why he feels so. And I, as an owner of a AMD GPU and previous owner of a Nvidia GPU, recommend both. It comes down to price. In the future people should not make worthless and unsupportive comments.

But for later titles two r9 270x would have a higher frame rate then 1 280x in future games and I make more money selling them then 1 graphics card and also I can get a second one really cheap from my friend

I don't mean to start an argument but would this be alright for a couple of years and the 280x price is ridiculous thanks to bitmining

The price of the 280x has fallen dramatically, back to normal. You can buy many good 280x models for $330usd or less.

This is part of OP's build:

Equipment: MSI Z87-G45, i5 4670K, 1TB Seagate Barricuda, 8gb Corsair Vengeance Pro

No need to Rage :)  I am flexible enough to change my opinions :)  I have my reasons for why not to buy AMD :)
Have a Nice day.

Specs
8gb corsair vengeance pro
I5 4670k CPU
Msi z87 g45 gaming
Antec Quattro 1000w
1tb seagate barracuda
R9 270x graphics
And I could always buy it full price but my friend has given a bit of a deal

Maybe your friend will allow you to use his 270 with your 270x for a week to see if there are any issues with Crossfire. I'd give it a try since it is a much cheaper solution and your system with PSU and Mobo can run it well.
