Hi

I have two computers and am trying to re-use some of the parts to just make one hopefully, quiet machine.

I will be using the following for the new machine:

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P
Memory: 8GB DDR3 1333mhz (2x 4GB)
Hard Drives: Corsair 60GB Force3 SSD S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
OCZ Agility 3 120gb SSD SATA III, Seagate Barracuda 3TB,
Optical Drives: 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA x 2 (1 from both machines)
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB
Sound card: Onboard 7.1 Audio Included
Case: Zalman Z9 Plus
Fans: Zalman x3 fans

I will be adding a Hitachi SATA 3gb 7200rpm and a Maxtor SATA 500gb hard drive.

I have the following PSUs:

PSU: 400W Xigmatek and Corsair 750W which should I use?

Also, I have another Geforce GTX 550Ti graphics card in the old machine.

Could I add this to the new machine and have two graphics cards? If so do I need to do anything special to get them to both work?

Is there anything I need to add to make it a quiet machine?

Can I just add the hard drives or do I need to do something to get them all to work?

I want to try make this as quiet as possible and re-use as much as possible.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If both GTX 550 Ti are the same size memory, you can use them in SLI if that is what you are asking. You will need an SLI bridge for best performance.
Depending on the model, the Corsair PSU would be preferable. And required if you are going to use 2 gfx cards.
Generally, the bigger the fans, the quieter they are... all else being equal. Most noise from the PC is from case fans running at full RPM. Small fans have to run at higher RPM to move the same amount of air as large fans at lower RPM. If you use a fan controller, you can slow them down for a quieter experience. Your stock CPU cooler will be pretty quiet.

Thank you, it is a TX750W Corsair. Can I just buy any type of SLI bridge (I know nothing about SLI)?

Yes. Here is an example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2C5...

The TX750W Corsair would be the better of the 2 PSUs. And you would need more than a 400W PSU for dual cards anyway. Nvidia recommends a 400W PSU for just a single card: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt...

Maybe you should list the make/model of the 2 x GTX 550 Ti cards you would be using, just in case.

Great thank you.

I've checked the cards and they are both 1gb so that will work, have ordered a SLI bridge too. Will order some Noctua fans as have read they are quiet - not bothered about appearance!

Thanks again for your help.
