Monitor keeps freezing, becoming unresponsive.

I have a problem and I have no idea how to fix it.

What happens is, my monitor turns all fuzzy like a static TV but the pixels don't move, it freezes. It makes a loud prolonged buzzing noise. The monitor and computer are both still on by the way, so it's not overheating (I don't think).

The screen becomes unresponsive until I hold down the button to turn off the computer and restart it.

Please if you have any suggestions as to what this problem might be, I would really appreciate your knowledge. If I've been too vague in my description of the problem please ask to give you more details.

Thanks.

Solution
I've been researching and it looks like a lot of factors can provoke freezing.

-Do you plug all the USB plugs into the same USB Hub? Try to switch some USB cords to the front USB slots.
-Do you have 2 Anti-Virus on-line at the same time?
-De-fragmenting the hard drive may solve the problem, as well speed up the overall system.

If none of those methods work, you should reinstall Windows. If the computer keeps freezing even after reinstalling Windows, the problem lies on the computer's hardware.

No, my PC is an x11 advanced x-station "gaming PC" that I bought off eBay.

EDIT: Also my monitor is an AOC E2343Fi if that helps.

Yes, this is how it goes. Start up, fine for an hour, freezes, restart, fine for an hour, freezes... and so on. This has been happening for about a month now so I thought it was time I got the opinion of people who know what they are talking about because I really have no idea how to do much inside a computer!

Ok, does your computer have a SSD? If yes, which model?

Let's start to iron out any potential problems:

-Virus Scan
-Clean registry and computer in general using CCleaner http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner
-Update every single driver you can! Go to the control panel and then Device manager. Open the graphic card, processor, motherboard, etc drop down and right click, select properties, select the controller tab and check for driver updates. Do it for everything, don't forget to restart after installing all the drivers.
-Check for Windows Updates as well

Tell me how it goes.

No I do not have an SSD.
I have removed 2 viruses.
Ran CCleaner.
I have updated all drivers that I can.
Installed all the important Windows updates.

Yet still 10 minutes after installing all the drivers and restarting, it froze again!

Hmm, what are your system specs?

You can also try to clean the dust inside the case, take out the RAM and Graphics Card, clean the slots and reseat them.

Did this happen when you bought the computer?

How would I go about finding my system specs?

I have already cleaned the dust and tried reseating the RAM and GPU.

No this didn't happen when I first bought the computer, about 5-6 months after I bought it.

You can find your computer's specs by going to the Control Panel, then you open the Device Manager. Tell me the name of the Processor and the Graphics Card.

I also need to know the wattage of the PSU (power source) you can find this information by looking at the sticker that's glued on the unit.

Only when I got the computer, it didn't come with an OS installed so I had to buy Windows 7.
