Hello everyone,
is been a while that I'm thinking of upgrading, better to say, replace the PC I'm using, and after long readings of forums and reviews, I've made a configuration, but I'm pleased to modify it according to your suggestions, because more points of view are always better than one.
This and other few Forums are full of important information to improve the knowledge about hardware and software, and this is precious, so Thank you so much for all your efforts :)

Mainly I use the Adobe CC suite, in order of use, Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects and Premiere, and then also 3Ds Max 2014 with Vray. The Operative System is Windows 7 Pro 64bit.

I find myself having to replace the current PC because it can not handle the video editing of the 4k /2.7k videos of the GoPro and those in RAW format which Magic Lantern records.

The idea was to keep some parts of the current configuration, and change the rest.

Before I was pretty for a 4770k, but since the difference is about 300 euros, I would like to opt for the LGA 2011 instead of 1150, choosing a 4930k, and overclock it.

As I understand the current LGA2011 motherboards will not be compatible with future CPU with LGA2011-3 .. but I hope I 'm wrong ;)

Here's the configuration :

- Motherboard: Asus X79, I've not decided the model yet, but I would stay around 300 Euros

- CPU: i7 4930k – 480 Euros

- Ram: 16GB ( 8GBx2 ) Mushkin Redline Ridgeback 2133 – 160 Euros

- SSD: Samsung 830 256GB – from the current PC

- Hard disk: 2 x 4TB Seagate SSHD – 2 x 160 Euros (or other equivalent)

- Power Supply: XFX or Seasonic 850W – about 160 Euros

- Case: NZXT Phantom 630 – 180 Euros approximately

- Cooler: Corsair h100i – 110 Euros

- Thermal paste

- Video Card: Point of View GTX 570 with 2.5 GB of ram – from the current PC

Total: 1700/1800 Euro

More or less this is the budget that I have.

In the future I would like to upgrade to, clearly depending on the available money, two GTX 770 or two 780, this is why the power supply now is oversized; and if needed to expand the RAM to 32GB.

The case is a bit “notprofessionallooking”, I know, but it has good performance, and I would also like something easily "salable" in the future :)

I'd like to be able to cool the two future GTX with two G10 NZXT Kraken, which I think is a good solution unlike liquid systems, more complicated and expensive.

Thank you for reading this far,
sorry if I've wrote too much and for my “English”,
I hope you can help me with your advices :)

Have a nice day,
Thank you so much.
Elia

Hi,
Thank you so much for your reply.
Yes, I've forgot the quad chan memory, because was thinking like the 4770k system xD
So Asus are only "overpriced" with nothing more than other mobos?
What you think about the rest of the configuration?

Thanks a lot.

Ok, that's probably true, but it seems they've got better performance, also in Tom's reviews.
MSI don't seem go be so good.

I was thinking that the Corsair H100i isn't a good idea, I've just saw on the Net a lot of "leaked" H100i... maybe it's better a Kraken X60 or a Noctua NH-14D, with less problems..

Yes, probably it's better to go for air cooling.
And what if I go for a 4770k configuration, waiting for the new 2011-3 generation, and maybe when the price will be good change from 1150 to 2011-3, without "wasting" the 4930k+mobo?
Maybe it's a better solution for be update without wasting money

Sorry for the delay in reply,
at this point I think will opt for a configuration like this:

- Asus Z87 Pro
- I7 - 4770k
- 32GB CML32GX3M4A1866C10 (low-profile)
- Fractal Design Define XL r2
- Noctua NH-14D
- Noctua NT-H1
- CD / DVD Drive

What do you think about?

I will reuse the rest of the components, for example, the PSU Corsair VX550 and the VGA, then I will see what to do/buy.
I prefer to do one more small step and then use the money I've saved for future upgrades.

Thank you again,
Elia

Thank you so much,
now I'm considering if buy a new z97 mobo... but I don't like so much to buy brand new component that are put in the market and only a few people have tested them... I remember the z87 (C2) mobo...
