Plz i want to know how to connect a dvr to a local network

Please i want to know how to connect a digital video recorder to a local network. i have tried but it seems the connection from the digital video recorder to the personal computer is the problem

DVRs by DESIGN do not allow PCs or other devices to 'access' the recording (this leads to pirated copies of videos, which is illegal). IF there is a way to 'legally' share the DVR's contents, then the manufacturer includes those instructions IN the DVR Manual or check the website. *IF* the DVR is from your cable company, you would need to contact them FOR SUPPORT (that is why you pay that bill every month) and they can tell you IF they allow it at all (doubt it) or their steps to help you for THAT specific model (each model is different and hence there is no 'ABC' step for all DVRs).
