So i recently did a build with this 2 pieces among others, and im wondering if anyone knows if its save to connect the Corsair Link Usb to the USB1314 pins in the Mobo..this in order to be able to use the front usb 2.0 from the case. Or would it be better to have the fans controlled by the motherboard?

I had it connected to the USB header next to the ROG ext. you can also connect it to the right side of the ROG ext becuase they are both USB 2.0 headers.
I'm doing the same thing currently. (going on a tangent here) I also connected the CPU fan into the CPU_FAN_OPT because I can't get it to frigging register the LED light while its running.
