I am very close to buying a 2560x1440 monitor (or, perhaps even the now affordable 4k Samsung U28D590D) and am looking at a new graphics card as I feel my 2GB 7850 might not be up to the task for modern gaming. Looking at the GTX 760 and 770 I notice there are 2GB and 4GB variants, £165/$277 for the 760 2GB, £205/$344 it's 4GB brother, and £220/$369 for the 2GB 770, £290/$487 for the 770 4GB. As I am going to be gaming in greater than 1080p, is it worth the extra money for the 4GB versions? I hear that in some cases it is simply not worth it.

If I decide to go with WQHD I will probably go 760, and 770 if I go 4k.

As a side note, does anyone here game on 4k, and if so what card are they running?

Thanks!

At 4k you'd want better than a 770. I would recommend the 770 for 2560x1440 but you still won't max all games with good fps. Also get the 4gb for either of those resolutions they take a lot more memory

I agree with firo40 you want at least an gtx 780 or r9 290 for anything in the range of 1600p. The 4 gb would help a bit, but it really meant for sli in the case of gtx 770. I don't recommend a gtx 760 for anything pass 1080p.

Read review of pny's version of the Gtx 770 overclocked 4gb on hardware canucks. It handles cyrsis 3 on 4k with a single card.
