I just tried putting a movie disc in my drive and now it will not boot, I was able to watch a movie perfectly 3 hours before this one, and before that I had installed drivers using disc's a few times (10 or so).

But now, my OD is not getting recognized.

It will open and close without problems.

I have unplugged the Sata cables, and have blown into the drive. Should I try a different sata port?

Does it show up in Explorer? If not, check Device Manager and see if you have Code 39/40/41 for your optical drive. If that is the case, do this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

So no yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager? Yes, you can try a different SATA port. If nothing: your drive controller is crapped and you need to buy a new drive.

Alright, I'll try a new port, the thing was only $20 anyways :D

Looks like switching the ports did the job.
Thanks.

I'd be watching your board for any further problems; if you have one bad SATA port, more problems can happen.
