Ok an APU suggestion should attract some attention to your thread for some other/better suggestions.
$800 is a lot of money to spend on an APU build that would get wrecked in performance tests against much cheaper systems.

IIRC Minecraft only utilizes a single core and isn't too graphic intensive, also from the video I just watched on that crazy TNT mod, the meteor TNT doesn't as much explode as it simply rewrites the terrain, so how about an AMD suggestion and Intel suggestion to get you started?

Anyway...hope this gives you some ideas and gathers more opinions to your thread, I'm interested in what gets suggested myself. There ARE other threads asking for builds for Minecraft systems if you want to have a look around.

Here's the parts I recently purchased to put together a portable system, that could still play games well enough. I had a hard drive and OS around, and am using the stock Intel cooler. Went with i3 so I could give a 1st hand opinion on it...frankly, I'm rather pleased with the Haswell chips. The built-in GPU is quite decent too (used it until i got the video card) Now, very happy with how it runs Minecraft at Far render, all settings at high. Haven't played much else on it though. Oh yeah, quiet as a mouse too.

Haven't tried the "Too Much TNT" mod (let alone the TNT Meteor), so can't actually say how it handles that. Sorry.
