Here's a BENCHMARK so you can look at performance, and four cards at different price points:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/R9_270X_Gaming/24.html

R9-270X 2GB: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-r9270xdc2t2gd5

GTX760 2GB: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-gtx760dc2oc2gd5

R9-280X 3GB: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-112210240g

GTX770 2GB: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-gtx770dc2oc2gd5

As the price goes up, so does performance. There are other differences:

AMD->Mantle (a few upcoming games support it)

NVidia-> PhysX, Shadowplay, Gamestream, G-Sync (new monitor)

*A lot of people are interested in recording/streaming gameplay so are interested in Shadowplay.

You can actually go to the website for these cards and get the manual. I believe that card runs up to THREE monitors but I don't know the combination. Likely:
a) 2xDVI + HDMI, or
b) 2xDVI + Displayport, or
c) 1xDVI + VGA (adapter) + HDMI, or
d) 1xDVI + VGA (adapter) + Displayport...

I wouldn't pay extra for a 3GB GTX660 either. Probably better to get something more like a GTX770 with 2GB depending on the cost. Most GTX660's are 2GB but they have more expensive 3GB versions that don't benefit.
