Battlefield 4 Resolution Scale

If the resolution scale is similar to AA than how why does it look like crap when you turn the scale down to 0% an have 4xAA turned on.

So what if I played at a resolution half of 1920x1080 an than set the resolution scale to 200% would that be the same as playing in 1920x1080 natively? I'm a little confused on the matter lol
