hey folks, kind of struggling here on trying to figure out which card to go for.

my PC:

I'm rocking an i7-2600k (not running overclock)
sabertooth z77 board
a Sapphire 6970 2g dual fan gpu
and a Corsair HX 850w PLUS GOLD power supply.
Mid tower Antec case

I would like assistance in deciding between these 3 video cards
(prices in Canadian dollars, with ontario 13% tax)

Sapphire Radeon R9 290X TRI-X Video Card - 4GB, TRI-X OC GDDR5, PCI-E x16 Gen 3.0, 1040mhz core clock - 11226-00-40G
>>>Price: $590 +tax

ASUS GeForce GTX 780 Ti DirectCU II 3GB-GDDR5, 954 mhz core clock - (GTX780TI-DC2OC-3GD5)
>>>Price: $675 + tax

Galaxy 780 Ti Hall of Fame Edition 3GB-GDDR5, 1006 mhz core clock - 78XNH5DV8PXV
>>>Price: $490 + tax

I'm quite use to AMD as I've only ever had AMD video cards, however this time I'm willing to go either way, mainly because of what my usage will be.

I do a lot of gaming, programming assignments, and I've begun learning 3DS Max and Unreal Engine, however currently ive got my pc connected to my 46" TV that caps at 1080p (from like 2006 lol)
I do plan on getting a 4K tv later on at the 50"-65" range (when the hdmi ports become 2.0 compliant for 60fps)

now my problem with tv thing is....if the tv releases in hdmi 2.0, and my video card is probably going to be hdmi 1.4.....it wont even matter will it? lol it'll still be @ 30 fps right? I don't want to run dual monitors, id rather just have a big tv...if only display port were on the nice tvs.

Now because of this whole character/level designing stuff, I'm under the impression I'm better off going with Nvidia....but I may be wrong....so if anyone can help id greatly appreciate it.

Which to choose?! (or should I wait? lol)

Thanks in advance.

I do the same work as you do, and the best of the three is the R9 290X, the extra 1GB of Vram really helps. I have this card for reference and ha the same decision to make.

For the price of the galaxy GTX 780 Ti HOF, that is the best value for money card of the three.

If you need any other help, just ask and we'll gladly help.

sweet thank you! I'll go with the 290x then. I was leaning towards the galaxy HOF but if the extra vram helps then i'll gladly go with it, rather spend a bit extra to get more out of it.

thanks again!
