i AM TRYING TO SET UP A NEW Archer C7 TPLink WIRELESS ROUTER. fOR THE SECURIY KEY ENTRY IT SAYS ENTER ASCII OR HEXIDECIMAL KEY. HOW DO i ENTER A HEXIDECIMAL KEY?
Any hexidecimal number (0-F) is one nybble (4 bits, or half a byte). Two hexidecimal numbers is one byte (8 bits). ASCII characters are 7 bits, but they go on into 8 bits with special encodings. Therefore, you will not be able to use the above tool for finding anything above hexidecimal 7F (decimal 127).
If you need 8-bit, open Notepad and use Alt codes. Convert the hexidecimal number to decimal, hold down Alt, and enter the decimal amount on the num-pad.
Not quite. Hex keys in WPA is the result of a PBKDF2 hash of the SSID and passphrase. If you want, you can just toss a pile of random hex of the right length in there, but very few clients support authentication via a hex key. Basically only command-line Linux.
