OK, so I am upgrading my PC soon, gonna get all the pieces and then get a local guy to install them for me (pretty noobish when it comes to this).

I have checked everything pretty much, but this.

Im getting an AMD FX 8350 4g cpu. Now on here pretty much every thread suggests getting a better cpu cooler than the one provided, even if not overclocking.

Once suggestion is the Cooler Master Hyper212 EVO, which at £25 is perfectly fine for me to get.

Now, as far as I know the motherboard doesnt affect what kind of cpu cooler you can fit, I will be getting an ATX which as far as I know are a standard size pretty much, which leads me to think the only constraints on which cpu cooler is your case and how big it is. Is that correct?

My case is a Tornado case by Raidmax. My current cpu only comes in at around W8cm x L9cm x D6cm.

Whereas the cooler I was looking at is 12x16x8 apparantly.

In my case (and i presume like a lot of others) my motherboard is underneath the power supply.

My question is this, if I wanted to measure how big a cpu cooler I could fit, where would I measure from?, or (even better) if someone can suggest if they have already had a similar issue and it did fit, or they found a different comparable one that did.

Anyway, sorry for the length of the question, and thanks in advance for any help.

There actually can be problems with the motherboard, that being where the ram is located and how tall the ram's heat-sinks are, but I don't think that will be a problem because the 212 evo can be placed at different angles to fit.

If this helps, the cooler will fit snugly, it's designed to fit in cases like yours.
