HELP! New (better) graphics card getting really low fps!

I am having a real problem with my new graphics card the evga 550ti. I upgraded from a crappy xfx 6670 but I got better fps on games on the 6670 than I get now on the 550ti. I tested it on minecraft and I got 40-50 fps where on the 6670 I got 100ish and I only got about 20-30 frames in war thunder, median quality. Here are my results on 3dmark http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/2958428?. I have tried installing and reinstalling different versions of drivers. I check my power supply and it has more than enough amps/watts to support it. I just don't know what to do. I have a few suspicions of what it could be :
- My bios could be too old but I checked and its the most recent version (2012)
- I have dual vga monitors both on dvi converters maybe that does something? one is 1080p on is 900p
- My motherboard is old and can't cope? (speed of motherboard)

I would be really grateful if someone could help me. It could be something simple that I haven't thought of but I just don't know.

Those maximum resolutions are for each connected device. There's absolutely nothing wrong with running up to 2X 2560X1600 resolution displays from a 550Ti as long as the connectivity is supported.

I use a GT520 to run both my 2nd and 3rd 1080P display connections. (second monitor and receiver>TV across the room). Not an issue.

As far as the performance...

There are so many opportunities for major performance discrepancies in mincraft stemming from protocol configuration...

Yeah it is quite hot like 50C and that not playing on games just chrome open.

First, check your device manager (control panel > device manager) and make sure you don't have more display adapters than you thought you did. I once installed Logmein to share computers and was surprised to see that it added a display adapter - which I learned in forums conflicts with a lot of new GPU hardware. Just uninstall any adapter, sound included, that shouldn't be there or you're not sure if you're using.

Next make sure that your bios is selecting your GPU. and not its onboard graphics driver when it starts up. You should see bios options for IGFX, PEG or PCI (this varies from board to board so you might have to look up your board. Select whatever option, in this case, PEG, which directs your bios to use the PCI Express slot. (Most gaming gpus are PCI Express)

Get rid of old software. If you are an intensive multimedia user like I am, you'll find your computer packed with old video editors, converters, capture applications, sound applications and what not that you don't use anymore, but they sure as heck still use your computer. You'd be surprised how many programs utilize your gpu and sound hardware. Get rid of them if you can.

Finally, make sure that if you had a previous video card, that you delete the old card's driver files and software. No matter what company they are from, video driver files are notoriously impossible to clean off your computer. You might want to find some software that will help you remove drivers. I haven't found anything that really did the job so I had to use the registry editor on my PC in safe mode to find the old drivers and manually delete them. Do this with care and only if you dare... and are pretty desperate, lol!

Finally a lot of games use crowd-sourced addons. World of Warcraft is an example. You might want to try disabling all your add ons and see if things improve. Get rid of ones you don't use. They use up memory and can affect frame rates.

As far as the performance...

There are so many opportunities for major performance discrepancies in mincraft stemming from protocol configuration, optimizations, and settings (java/openGL etc), that FPS never seems to be same on any 2 systems even if they have the same hardware.

My advise when changing GPUs, would ALWAYS be to wipe the OS and do a fresh install. GPU drivers are a MAJOR part of the system, that can influence the way subsequent software is configured and installed. I also would not assume that what should be a more powerful GPU from GPU manufacture "X" is guaranteed to improve performance vs what should be a less powerful GPU from GPU manufacture "Y" in this particular game title, as the performance of this game is going to be heavily influenced by variations in API implementations, event-timing, etc. A driver update or java update is just as likely to double or halve FPS in this game as a change in hardware.
