So next semester I will be taking classes with 3ds Max and I was wondering if I need to update my rig. I'm taking it because I would like to learn how to create 3D models and character animations.

My rig is as follows:
4670k
MSI GD-65
2 EVGA 770'S
HX-850
2X4GB Vengeance (1600)
2TB Cav. Black
2 Hyperx 3K's (240GB)
H100i

One of my main concerns is the ram and the cpu. Do I need to upgrade to a 4770k for hyper-threading and get a 16GB+ ram upgrade or would 8GB suffice? Just wanted to see what you guys thought. In case of reply, I am going to to work, but I will be back on later this evening.

Solution
that looks like its more than enough (unless you are doing soem serious 3d editing, rendering and multitasking at the same time). the only improvements i could make would be increase the ram? but only if you could afford it.
is assume the 2 hyperx 3K's are ssd's, otherwise i recomend the samsung 840 evo ssd. obviously run 3ds max off the ssd
