PNY GTX 780 Ti...should I??/

Live on the east coast of Canada so despite the economy being worse than western Canada and Ontario and Quebec. Things still cost more. So There is a store around here that has One PNY GTX 780 ti left and it is selling for the MSRP. So 699.99. Maxwell is a ways off and it might be two years before DX12 games start to shine. This would seem like a good chance to get a GPU so when I get a 1440p Monitor I can enjoy games at that resolution. Though if 4k ever becomes a standard on LCD monitors the 3gb of GDDR5 would not be that great. So what would you do if You already owned a PNY GTX 770 2Gb XLR8. Note: I really don't like the PNY version my current GPU...The PCB and Power Design will never let this full GK104 GPU reach it's potential. I would assume since the PNY GTX 780 Ti is a reference design as well that it too would be held back. Feedback on PNY would be nice

So, you already own a 770 and you want to know if you get a 780 will it run great on 1440 and eventually 4k? I would focus on 1440 for now, but it sounds like your loaded with cash so hmmm why not get the titan black edition? Because you don't like to get things shipped to you? PNY also makes a 3 fan heatsink for the 780 ti if your willing to branch out into the dangerous world of online retail. Personally, I love PNY. Since your loaded, I would just skip 1440 altogether as 4k seems to be a somewhat affordable thing soon.

If it's the OC version get it and overclock it to compete with all other Ti's out there as it has very good cooling and high overclockability to be on par with higher end Ti's then sell the 770 and enjoy your gaming but PNY isn't all that bad with lifetime warranty and the fact I haven't heard much bad about them at all

Firsty I am not loaded with that much cash...I just have some funds that I was saving for a new monitor and peripherals and never spend it yet. And it The PNY GTX 780 ti XLR8 non-OC but it does have that sexy aluminium shroud.

I don't know if going for the blower style is worth it due to less cooling capabilitys but if I you have a small case it's fine plus if you think it looks good go ahead people by the blower style so it looks like a Titan there isn't too much difference but if your looking to save money you can get the Reference but I buy stuff from amazon and there is only a $4 difference between the OC and the Reference

Blower style are usually not as good as the fan based counterparts and are significantly louder. The more high end you go, the more the performance per dollar will dip. Its a good upgrade (780ti being 26 percent better), but costs more than double. Unless there is some purpose (surround or 4K gaming), I would not get 780ti.

the 780 Ti would be because you can buy one now and one when the 800 series comes out because the 700 series will drop in price or you will just be able to afford another plus from a lot of my sources they all say that they only difference between the 700 and 800 series is that the 800 series will be more energy efficient and consume less power so upgrading to a 800 series or even waiting till then will be a waist of time and money

Everyone keeps talking like the 8xx are right around the corner, Everything I have read is pointing to Q1 2015 or beyond! And that it is going to be this amazing thing! they don't even know if it is going to be 20nm or stay with 28nm, I would not get a 1st gen GPU with that many changes anyway.

If you are planning on going with 1440p+ and you did get a EVGA 780 ti and like it (and you will), EVGA is releasing a 6gb version of the 780 ti May/June and they are going to have a 90 day step up program if you decide 3gb isn't enough for some reason.

Unless you are ready to spend lots of cash I wouldn't even worry about 4k for the next couple years, IMO with the changes they are making to the memory (making it more effective), and things should be optimized and run better by then, and may not even need more then 3gb. but there is no way to know for sure.

Are speaking on a comment I made or someone else in this thread??. I know that Maxwell GM200s(800 series) are now delayed so I do not expect to see any this year. The GTX 750 Ti made an impact and It is a good GPU. I have no illusions as to what I want and what I can use in my PC. 1440p is all I want right now and that will be fine for me for a few years. The only reasons I asked was because it is rare to see a GPU, in this case the PNY GTX 780 Ti XLR8, at MSRP in Canada especially on the east coast. When I saw that the American price was the same maybe less. My only doubt about the card I mentioned is that it is from PNY. I could have waited until Nov when the prices on the 780 went down but I did not want to wait as I had games Like Far Cry 3 and Metro Last Light. But I can say in a few games for sure That 2Gb is not enough for 2560x1440. I hit the limit with Bioshock Infinite and Crysis 3 and even Far Cry 3 can get up there.

Not sure what world you live in, but one year isn't that long to wait on Earth.

I was just trying to say that as of right now we don’t know much about the 8xx cards. Just like anything else, buying the first cards there will probably have issues/bugs, look at the r9 290 they had bad heat issues with the first models, it has been fixed now but how much longer did that take. I did not mean to start an argument! >.<

I was also just pointing out if you got an EVGA card and found out 3gb of memory was not enough you could step up to a 6gb card. no offence intended.

PNY is a pretty good company. They have a lifetime warranty and are based in Brooklyn, NY. I have dealt with their RMA process and had zero problems.

The reference GTX 780 Ti will do a fine job, but won't be pushing very high on the Turbo Boost clocks. That shouldn't be a problem since the card destroys anything you throw at it. I have that exact card and I'm running through BioShock Infinite on ultra everything at 130 FPS.

Go with the PNY GTX 780 Ti you will have high performance and there is no problems with the PNY version lifetime warranty and it's cheaper than all others you can save money without worrying because of the warranty don't pass up the chance as it's a good opportunity especially for an upgrade.
