A few weeks back i did a custom build, and have a WD Blue 1TB HDD. Recently i have seen the performance of my system go down and have a recurring message of "windows has detected a had drive problem". As it is a new system, i am disappointed that my hdd is already failing, and would rather not send off for a new one. Does anyone know of fix, or anything which i could do. Also, if i do need to get new hdd, how would i put a backup in as i would have no OS on which to put it.
Thanks.

Hi

First check cables are plugged in fully ( power & data at both ends)
Next

Get western digitals bootable hard disk diagnostics program make a bootable cd or USB
Test the hard disk (run full test)
If it fails you get an error code and contact either retailer or WD to return product

You can't fix a falling hard disk, you may be able to do a temporary repair

It is difficult to clone a dying hard disk unless temporary repair lasts long enough

And usually they want hard disk back for testing before issuing a replacement
