I have a pc that I built myself with the help of the forum here, and this has been happening ever since I built it. The games I play freeze and I get a blue screen then the game comes back. This happens often. Happens online and offline gaming. Happens with old games such as frozen throne, flight simulator, silent hunter. I don't even want to try to play any new games. I need someone to help walk me through troubleshooting steps or I am going to take it in to a professional. Thanks for your help.

One of the things to try is another gpu if you can.

The other thing is to update the bios if you don't already have the latest and get the latest drivers for you gpu.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Before updating the drivers would i first get rid of the old ones,For that download one of the following tools,
http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_unin...
or
http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion
After that make a restart in safe mode and use the program downloaded to get rid of the old drivers, when finished make a restart and download->install the latest drivers.

I tried to do the update via the auto detect on that link you gave me from amd. It said could not detect, parse error.

Did you get rid of the old drivers first? Probably better.

If the auto update doesn't work find them manually and update yourself.

Uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled the latest, still having the same problems. This time while playing silent hunter, a game which this pc should have no problem running, the game froze and I got red and yellow vertical lines across the screen. The audio also froze and went into a loop. I had to hit the reset button, cntrl alt del wouldn't respond.

Looking at that can i only suggest again to try it with another gpu.

Bringing back ils thread. Still having issues. I don't have a spare gpu to use, and I can't afford to order one just to try.
