hey all,

I just monitored my cpu temps, both in hwmonitor and overdrive.
I just don't know if my temps are good. I have an aftermarket cooler and overdrive says My temp margin is 22+ degrees under gaming (ultra settings) in overdrive, and my temps in hwmonitor says 50 degrees (under motherboard cpu label).

The only problem is, is that under the processor label in hwmnitor, the max readings are 160 degrees 0.0 i think when if it really reaches 160 it should turn off, or overdrive should give me a warning but it didn't so are which readings should I trust more, those of overdrive or hwmonitor?

Just to be clear, the cpu label in hwmonitor says maximum 50 degrees, the processor label says idle at 20 degrees and maximum 160 but my overdrive says my minimum temp margin is around 25 degrees (when gaming).

Are those normal temps for an amd fx processor?

Those temperatures are fine, the one you want to look at is CPU under temperatures and Package under AMD FX-8350. AMD guarantees their processors up to 62c, so it's ideal to keep it under that, but they're really fine until 70c. The lifetime may start going down if you're hitting 75c. In the future, use Prime95 to stress test your CPU. That will put it under 100% load for maximum temperatures, so you'll get your max temps without playing the most demanding game you can find for 4 hours.

So What you say is that the temps under fx8350 label in hwmontiro should not go above 61? and what about the cpu label under motherboard?

In prime95, the cpu temp stays stays at 61 and the temps under fx8350 are not higher than 49. The heat margin in overdrive stays above 20 degrees celsius.

Are those any good? I really do not want to break my cpu, so i just want to be sure

Where are you seeing the temperatures under motherboard? Your temperatures are perfectly fine.

The temperatures you want to pay attention to are highlighted here. The max is also fairly important, because if it hits 90c, it will hit that again.
