Hey guys,

It's my birthday today and I got a new PC case, the Sharkoon T9 Value. I opened up my old case and moved all of the components over, and everything seems fine, however every time I boot it up I got a "CPU fan error", even though I can see that the CPU fan is spinning fine through the window.

I think I might have plugged the CPU fan header into the wrong header on my motherboard, and it is therefore not being picked up as the CPU fan header, but is being picked up as a case fan.

If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Solution
It is usually one of two things:

1. The fan is connected to the wrong port.
2. The motherboard cannot detected the RPM of the fan. The fan might be spinning but the sensor in the fan is bad.

you were correct - the problem was that on the asus m5a97 the first connector is in the middle of the 3 - i looked in bios which fan was running and found that out. while in the manual is not this order...
