I'm looking to buy an Asus X750JB and understand that it has 2 HDDs. I'm thinking that I'd like to replace one of the HDDs with an SSD. Specifically, I want to replace the BOOT-DRIVE with the SSD. Does anyone know if that is possible? (I want to make sure that having 2 drive bays isn't just some marketing gimmick if the reality is that you can only easily replace ONE of the drives, and that the drive you replace can't be the boot drive. I realize this is probably me just being too paranoid of marketing gimmicks but you never know....)

Asus' web site really doesn't have nearly enough information to know if this is possible.

Also, I've seen some advertisements (on Amazon) for this model but with 16 GB of RAM rather than 8 GB. But the info on the Asus web site says the MAX RAM is 8GB. What gives? Could I upgrade the RAM to 16GB? (I'm leary of some after-market hack job that messes with the motherboard to force extra RAM into it if it isn't supported.)

Thanks!

Dual SSD/HDD supports is not available on all models, some come with a single 1TB HDD.

As for swapping out, replacing primary HDD with a SSD is just a caes of taking the back off, disconnecting and replacing the HDD.

If you plan to use the existing Asus build of Windows, you will need to eith first create a set of recovery DVD's or clone the HDD to SSD, so that the recovery partition is available or you can keep a copy of the drivers, install the appropriate build of Windows yourself from a freely downloadable OEM Windows ISO and activate from the key on the laptop.
