Choppy playback with integrated video

I recently had to remove my video card (Geforce GTX 650) as I was getting
significant artifacting. So until I have it replaced I'm using my integrated video supplied
by my mobo, an ASROCK Z77 Extreme 3 (LGA 1155).
The problem now is that I have very choppy video playback.
Any suggestions on what to enable/disable or look for?
I've tried disabling hardware acceleration but I get an error saying it won't save to registry.
It's probably something simple but I'm out of ideas.

Thanks for any advice.

Solution
The i5 has integrated Intel® HD Graphics 2500, so should be good to playback full 1080HD with ease.

It could be down to the video codecs installed, I recommended downloading the free K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and make sure you select LAV or Quick Sync.
